"Why I Got Arrested" – by Top Climate Scientist
“What do I know that would cause me — a reticent, Midwestern scientist — to get myself arrested in front of the White House protesting? And what would you do if you knew what I know?”
That’s how top NASA climate scientist James Hansen begins his TED talk.
He explains how, in his early days at NASA, he was tasked with studying the climate on Venus, and then what he then learned about the climate on Earth, what the science predicted about our future, how all of those predictions have come true, what we can expect to happen next, and, most important, what we can still do about it.
Initially, in the George W. Bush administration, he was chief consultant on climate change. But that led to him being gagged. And he’s still no longer welcome there.
