Kitten Survives from China to Canada
Now named Mandarin, she was locked in a shipping crate for 45 days, first on a cargo boat across the Pacific, and then overland to Calgary.
The rest of the cargo was just granite slabs, destined for a stone and tile company.
The very weak kitten, who had lost half her normal weight, was rushed to an animal hospital and is now in the care of the Calgary Humane Society. Staff there suggested she might have survived by finding mice in the container.
