This is my first afternoon hike down to the creek here at Angel Canyon since the end of May. That’s when the horse flies and deer flies come out.
They all hatch together, as if an alarm clock went off in every bush or wherever they emerge from. And it’s their territory for the next two months.
Then, at the end of July, when the monsoon rains come, they all disappear over just two or three days. That’s when it’s time to head down to the creek again.
Click on the slide show to start, and we’ll head off down the slope . . .
